items in contextual advertising:
1. Initial advertising setup
(you can learn how to set it up and
launch the ad yourself, or pay someone to set it up, like me);
2. Pay per click (this money goes to the Yandex advertising service itself, not to me).
Now more about how advertising works in Yandex
A person goes to the search engine -> types in a query -> sees our advertisement on one of the first four lines -> and makes a decision: to click on it or not. If he clicks, then a certain amount is debited from our advertising account, which varies in different business areas and regions. This is how we pay for clicks on the site.
How much does one transition to a site from Yandex cost?
There is no exact answer, the cost depends on:
- the business sector;
- the activity of competitors;
- the region in which the advertisement is shown;
- seasonality;
- the quality of the site and advertisement;
- and hundreds of other indicators known only to Yandex itself!
Therefore, we usually do this:
We choose a fixed amount (for example, $ 100) and a test time period (1 - 2 weeks), launch advertising and
record the indicators. We count - how many applications and clients there were during this period. If the numbers suit us, then
we continue to spend the same budget on advertising, if not - we increase it, if there are too many applications and we do not have time to process them, then we reduce the budget.

Moreover, there may be hundreds or even thousands of such queries that people type in Yandex, specifically looking for our services. And an advertisement consists of a dozen fields (title, text, link, etc.), checkboxes and other settings, an error in which can lead to huge expenses on non-targeted clicks, i.e. to a drain of the advertising budget. There is another type of advertising - banners on partner sites
The logic of payment for clicks on our site is the same here. But the logic of ad impressions is different.
If a person has recently been interested in services from our sphere or searched for them in Yandex, then our advertising banners will "follow" him everywhere on the Internet.
What does "everywhere" mean? Yandex has a network of partner sites - Avito, VK, Mail.ru, hundreds of news sites, blogs and sites on various other topics. These sites can embed advertising banners. Yandex Advertising Network or YAN - that's what this structure is called.
What's the bottom line?
We can bring visitors to our site in two ways:
- through search, if they are looking for us right now
- banners, if they were looking for us sometime in the recent past
