Tam Coc, Vietnam, 4.12.2024
"Hi, Andrey!
We are in Tam Coc. Can we meet :)"
This message came from Elvira about an hour before sunset. She is traveling in Vietnam with a friend of Moroccan descent from France named Maroua. They met about a week ago in Hanoi.
And so the three of us are walking along a deserted road between flooded rice fields, which in turn are surrounded by hills, taking pictures of the landscapes and escaping from local dogs.
Two days earlier, the girls and I got off the bus from Sapa and went to our hostels. That same evening, I accidentally met Nina, a funny and wayward girl from Austria, with a good sense of humor, we were sitting on sun loungers on the shore of a local lake and laughing at the funny Russian words "petrushka", "kakashka" and "pipiska". We also met her a week earlier in another city.
That same day, I met Alex from the US and crossed paths with Eldar, he flew in from Bali. I also met them in Sapa.
Are you already confused about who is who and where it was?)
I think that during the trip I will meet more new people than when I lived at home.
I want to share with you that when traveling the world, you will never be alone. You will meet travelers like you on your way. They will tell you their stories, and you will share your favorite places. You will unite to travel together, walk around cities, climb mountains, rent bikes and travel around islands, drink beer at sunset, tease each other, go in different directions, say goodbye and meet again.
I had two fears:
1. I will not meet anyone
2. I will not be able to communicate because I do not know the language
They are both just cockroaches in the head. There are plenty of travelers, including from your country, and the language is gradually recognized. The same new acquaintances will be happy to teach you new words and phrases. And of course there is Google translator)
But the most important thing in all this is a reminder to myself and to the readers - we can always and everywhere find friends, you just need to take a step, not doubt and not be afraid!
Below I have attached several photos from the first days in Tam Coc.
