No energy, motivation, bad mood, sadness - it happens to everyone. People call it burnout and most often associate it with boring work. I think that it is not about work, but about life, in general.
Sometimes, you are sad because you don’t have what you want or you blame yourself for some mistakes you made or you don’t see prospects in the future. This is burnout. Regret about the past, worries about the future and dislike for the present - this has been said many times.
One good person says, “You can’t control your emotions, but you can control your actions.” Burnout is from the realm of emotions. The way out of it is action.
Starting to act, especially when you have no energy and motivation, is difficult, but possible. And you need to understand that this is the only way, to which you will come one way or another. I start with my favorite music, rewatch cool movies and YouTube videos, I start reading, doing sports. This is a small springboard. It helps to let go of the situation and find something good in the moment. Then, personally, I am saved by goals and new things - places, people, events, emotions, experience.
Recently, by the way, a volunteer project became such a novelty for me.
And here there is no clear advice, to each his own. But you can (this is an important point!):
- start learning something yourself (English, get a license, play the guitar, etc.);
- in addition, sign up for courses;
- join some kind of movement, for example, go to Mafia, it is everywhere;
- again, sports, jogging, gym;
- books, films, YouTube - but without fanaticism and news. It should be something positive, interesting, new, useful or motivating;
- meet old friends more often and find new ones, you can make them on the same courses;
- personally, I am also starting to write a lot - articles for the site, on social networks. Sometimes I shoot videos. I am engaged in the promotion of my services. I take pictures of something for the soul;
- tidy up the house, office - clean up;
- tidy up your life - solve the pending problems that everyone has;
- bad habits. It's difficult, but you need to switch your brain from thinking that they give you joy in the moment to the fact that they take away this joy little by little every day. You don't give up something, you get rid of the burden;
- finally decide on what causes doubts, worries or suffering. This can even be a very big step - changing jobs, ending a relationship, moving;
- write it all down - a list of problems, fears and doubts, probable developments and possible solutions. Then choose the most suitable actions for yourself and start doing them.
I remember jogging in Almaty last May, spring, sunny weather, the city was blooming. There is a park with a lake, from which you can see the TV tower and the mountains. I remember what music I listened to during my workouts. And I remember the state in which I returned home after 3 kilometers - it was a thrill to the point of goosebumps!
Brick by brick, you begin to build the foundation of a better life. Something may lie crooked or fall apart - this is normal, you just need to continue. You begin to act, at first there is a moment of euphoria "Oh, I have changed!" Then something will definitely not work out or will not work out quickly, laziness will begin to whisper "Maybe tomorrow?" You give up, but you can't give up! Then you begin to feel the changes, timidly rejoice, become more confident in yourself, happier. Here's another trap, you think "That's it, life has improved, I'm a hero, I can relax." No, you can't! You need to continue, continue and continue. Return to the IMPORTANT POINT again! and look at your life from a new reality.
To be honest, I usually reach the place "life has improved" and relax. But the fact that I understand this already gives me hope that next time I won't step on the same rake! Ha-ha-ha Or maybe I will, who knows, you can always start over.
You also need to praise yourself more often, even for small victories. And in the end, I will recommend you one very good book, it will help you get started and give you the necessary impetus. It is read in one breath - "Bricks 2.0" by Daniyar Sugralinov (in Russian: «Кирпичи 2.0» Данияра Сугралинова).
Good luck!
