Hello!
There are two approaches here: a website in a single foreign language or a multilingual website. The first is clear – we create a regular website with content in another language, the most important thing being a high-quality translation. But let's look at the second in more detail.
How to create a website in multiple languages?
There are two technical ways to do this. I'll tell you both so you understand how important it is to choose the right one.
1. Without changing the URL
The visitor sees a page – if they want to switch languages, the content on this page is simply updated. The page is the same, but the text is in a different language. This method is bad because search engines don't understand that a website has multiple languages and will only index your site in the default language. In other words, all your efforts to capture the attention of an audience from a different language group are in vain. The language switching method itself is usually implemented using scripts, which Bing and Google don't see.
2. Duplicate pages in another language
When switching languages, the visitor is taken to a different page, the URL changes, the text changes, the site's SEO settings change, but the design remains the same. If the site is designed correctly, the switching happens very quickly, and most visitors don't even realize they've landed on a different page. And since you have multiple pages in different languages, search engines index them all. Also, for example, you can send pages in the desired language to different clients at once, instead of asking them to switch from the default language each time. You can see how this works on my site.
I'd like to raise an important question here: how to quickly and easily publish content in different languages?
It's important that the website owner is comfortable using it, publishing articles and other content.
I implement it this way:
You create an article in one language, then copy it to the website section for another language, and simply change the text to the language you need.
Minimal steps. A more advanced approach is to connect an online translation service or a neural network to the website.
Then you don't even have to translate. This method is more difficult to implement and more expensive, and it also requires a subscription to a neural network,
which isn't suitable for everyone. In any case, the choice is yours.
By the way, on many projects (at the client's request), after delivery, I create a video tutorial with a recording of my screen, where I explain in detail how to manage the website, publish articles, photos, and other content.
Nowadays, many entrepreneurs are looking to enter foreign markets - a multilingual website can be a step towards international business.
Good luck in your business! If you have any questions, we can discuss them in the comments on Telegram @zvandrei_channel or by email innovative-business@mail.ru
