My proposal really works, i.e. we call each other -> fill out a form -> a special program on my computer
creates a ready-made website -> I upload it to the Internet (to the hosting).
In fact, it takes less than 3 days, but I always take a reserve, because I also manage other projects.
So what went wrong here?
1. The site is designed for an English-speaking audience, so the client decided to store the site files on a foreign hosting service. I don't think there are any advantages to this, but the person insisted, I didn't argue. But it took time, plus the hosting itself was a bit glitchy during setup, which also delayed the process.
2. The site is in English. Moreover, the content had to fit into the finished structure of the design template. Because of this, we had to rework the texts and blocks several times. We also added 2 screens, to fit everything that was required. Fortunately, I thought about this in advance and such an additional option exists.
3. The client approached his future site very responsibly, hoping to do everything fundamentally, once and for all. And in this particular case, I would recommend creating a full-fledged website, with a management system and a well-thought-out design - but these are different terms and costs, which for some reason did not suit the customer. We corresponded a lot, called each other, I recorded voice messages with answers to questions, I told what we can implement within the framework of the offer "Website in 3 days", and what will require additional investments in time and money.
All this took more than 2 weeks. And here is the final call, we have fully approved the content, I hang up, sit down at the computer, in 2 hours I assemble the site, upload it to the hosting and send a link with the message "We are done!"
It's done! Wow!
Summary: If you are thinking about creating a website, immediately decide for yourself what is a priority for you: save time and money or make it as individual and uncompromising as possible. These are two sides of the same scale, finding a balance is very difficult. If we save, then we will have to sacrifice some functionality. And vice versa, if we want to implement some complex functionality, then it will take more time for development, and therefore increase costs. In any case, I always try to listen to the customer and offer different solutions to problems, as well as tell their advantages and disadvantages. I believe that this helps my clients in their work. Good luck to everyone!
P.S.: By the way, the customer is a person who now lives in Thailand and wants to run a marathon across India from north to south. Well, how can you not help!
